FAA & Legal

CERTIFICATION & COMPLIANCE

Yes. Every Drone Studio NC pilot, including founder Marco A. Castro, holds a valid FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate — the federal license required for all commercial drone operations in the United States. Our pilots also pass our internal training and proficiency program, carry comprehensive general liability insurance with minimum $1,000,000 coverage per occurrence, and follow standardized flight protocols that ensure safe, legal operations on every project across Raleigh and North Carolina.

Yes. We handle all required FAA airspace authorizations for every project. Much of the Raleigh-Durham area falls within controlled airspace near Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU), which requires LAANC (Low Altitude Authorization and Notification Capability) approval before flying. Our team secures these authorizations in advance of your scheduled flight — you do not need to worry about any of the airspace paperwork. For projects requiring special waivers or operations in restricted areas, we submit manual FAA waiver requests on your behalf and manage the entire approval process.

Yes, commercial drone flights at weddings and events are legal in North Carolina when operated by an FAA Part 107 certified pilot following all federal regulations. Our wedding drone pilots fly at safe altitudes, maintain required distances from people and structures, coordinate with your venue management, and ensure the drone never disrupts your guests or program. We carry full liability insurance and can provide a certificate of insurance (COI) to any venue that requires proof of coverage before your event date.

Pricing & Booking

COSTS & SCHEDULING

Drone service pricing varies by service type, project scope, and deliverables. Here are general starting ranges for our Raleigh and Triangle clients: aerial photography starts around $300–$500 for a basic property shoot. Cinematic video projects start around $500–$800. Drone inspections typically range from $400–$1,200 depending on the asset type and thermal requirements. Surveying and mapping projects are quoted based on acreage and accuracy requirements. Wedding drone packages range from $495 to $1,495. Corporate event packages range from $795 to $2,495. Every project receives a detailed, transparent quote before you commit — no hidden fees.

Yes. A non-refundable deposit of 50% of the total project cost is required to confirm your booking and reserve your date. The remaining balance is due upon delivery of final deliverables. For recurring service programs such as construction progress monitoring or seasonal agricultural flights, we offer flexible payment terms outlined in your service agreement. We accept all major credit cards, ACH transfers, and company checks.

If you cancel a confirmed booking more than 72 hours before the scheduled flight, your deposit will be applied as a credit toward a future booking valid for 12 months. Cancellations within 72 hours of the scheduled flight are non-refundable. You may reschedule at no additional charge with at least 48 hours’ notice, subject to pilot availability. If weather prevents us from flying safely on your scheduled date, we reschedule at no cost to you — weather delays are never treated as a cancellation. See our full terms of service for complete details.

Deliverables & Technology

WHAT YOU GET

Standard turnaround times from the date of flight: aerial photographs are delivered within 48 hours. Cinematic video edits and highlight reels are completed within 5 business days. Inspection reports with annotated imagery and thermal analysis are delivered within 3–5 business days. Surveying and mapping deliverables including orthomosaics, 3D models, and volumetric reports are delivered within 48–72 hours. Wedding clients receive a preview gallery within one week. Rush delivery is available for time-sensitive projects at an additional fee.

Drone Studio NC operates professional-grade DJI drone platforms equipped with high-resolution cameras, calibrated thermal sensors, and RTK GPS positioning systems. Our equipment selection is matched to each project — we use cinema-grade cameras with full-frame sensors for aerial photography and videography, calibrated radiometric thermal sensors for inspections, and precision mapping drones with RTK/PPK positioning for surveying and mapping projects. We carry backup equipment on every flight to ensure your project is never delayed by a technical issue.

We deliver files in the formats that work best for your intended use. Aerial photographs are delivered as high-resolution JPEG and TIFF files. Video is delivered as MP4 (H.264/H.265) in 4K resolution. Social media cuts are formatted for Instagram Reels, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts. Surveying and mapping deliverables are provided in GeoTIFF, LAS/LAZ point clouds, DXF/DWG for AutoCAD, SHP for ArcGIS, and PDF reports. Inspection reports include annotated JPEG imagery and PDF documentation. If your team needs a specific format not listed here, just let us know — we accommodate custom deliverable formats on every project.

Our drone surveying and mapping services deliver accuracy within ±3 centimeters when using ground control points (GCPs) and RTK GPS positioning — comparable to traditional survey-grade results. The key advantage is speed and cost: drone surveys cover large sites up to 5 times faster than traditional ground-based methods and at significantly lower cost, especially for projects spanning multiple acres. Our orthomosaic maps, digital elevation models, and volumetric calculations integrate directly into AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, and other platforms your engineering team already uses.

Industry-specific

AGRICULTURE, CONSTRUCTION & REAL ESTATE

Raleigh and Triangle real estate agents use our real estate drone services for MLS-ready aerial listing photography, cinematic video property tours, interactive virtual showcases, and twilight/golden-hour shoots that maximize visual impact. Studies show listings with aerial photography sell up to 68% faster. We deliver edited, publication-ready files within 48 hours. Insurance professionals also use our aerial inspections for roof condition assessments, property documentation, and claims processing throughout North Carolina.

Our agricultural drone services include multispectral and NDVI crop health monitoring, precision field mapping with georeferenced orthomosaics, 3D terrain modeling for drainage planning, variable-rate prescription mapping, aerial livestock monitoring, and infrastructure inspections of barns, silos, and irrigation systems. We serve row crop operations, specialty crops, vineyards, orchards, and livestock operations across the NC Piedmont, Coastal Plain, and Triangle region. Our data integrates with popular farm management software platforms.

Construction drone services help Raleigh and NC general contractors, developers, and project managers track progress with scheduled aerial flyovers, verify grading and earthwork with volumetric surveys, inspect rooftops and structures without scaffolding, and share visual updates with remote stakeholders and lenders. Our progress monitoring programs deliver timestamped orthomosaic maps and annotated comparison reports on weekly, biweekly, or monthly schedules. Construction teams using drone aerial services report up to 35% reduction in rework costs.

Raleigh & North Carolina

LOCAL QUESTIONS

Yes. Much of the Raleigh-Durham metro area falls within Class B and Class C controlled airspace surrounding Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU). Commercial drone flights in these areas require advance authorization through the FAA’s LAANC system or manual waiver process. Drone Studio NC handles all airspace authorizations for every project — our pilots are experienced with Raleigh-area airspace and secure approvals before every flight. We also monitor temporary flight restrictions (TFRs) and coordinate with local authorities when flying near stadiums, government buildings, or special events across the Triangle.

Drone Studio NC was founded by Marco A. Castro, a Raleigh-based FAA Part 107 certified drone pilot with over five years of hands-on experience delivering professional aerial services across North Carolina. Marco is personally involved in project planning, quality assurance, and client communication on every engagement. When you work with Drone Studio NC, you are working directly with Marco and his dedicated team — not a faceless national company. That local, personal approach is what sets us apart and why Raleigh clients trust us with their most important projects and moments.

Yes. Drone Studio NC carries comprehensive general liability insurance with minimum coverage of $1,000,000 per occurrence for every commercial drone operation we conduct. We provide certificates of insurance (COI) upon request for any project — many venues, property managers, construction sites, and corporate event planners in the Raleigh area require proof of insurance before approving drone flights on their premises. Our insurance covers property damage, bodily injury, and related liabilities arising from our drone operations across North Carolina.

For projects in Raleigh and the immediate Triangle area (Durham, Cary, Chapel Hill, Apex, Holly Springs, Wake Forest, Garner), we can typically deploy within 24–48 hours of booking confirmation. For urgent requests such as storm damage documentation, insurance claims, or time-sensitive construction milestones, we offer same-day emergency deployment when pilot availability allows. Projects outside the Triangle typically require 48–72 hours for scheduling and logistics coordination. Contact us with your timeline and we will confirm our availability immediately.
